Group Therapy
You feel like you’ve been a good parent. You used to set screen time limits and watch what your child did online. Then they became a teenager, and it got harder.
The pandemic happened, and they had to be on a screen all the time. But the pandemic is over. As things have gotten safer and are back to “normal”, you noticed your teen’s screen habits have remained the same. They spend more and more time online and less and less time in person with family or friends.
You don’t know what to do.
Whenever you try to restrict their time online, they get so upset it scares you. You worry they might be addicted to video games or in unhealthy relationships with people online. When they’re on their device, it’s like nothing else matters. You feel like you can’t interrupt them, spend time with them, or ask them to participate in household activities like meals or chores.
Your teen says they have friends online, but they’re people you’ve never met, and you don’t know anything about. It’s so hard to know what to do.
You want your teen to be healthy, have fun, and be with friends like you were at their age. You wish your teen was more outgoing and had more balance in their life.
When you were a teen, you used to go hang out with friends, not be home alone, “hanging out” with strangers online.
Today for the first time, your teen asked to talk to someone. They said they’re lonely. You’re so happy they’re asking for help. You want to honor that.
You’re wondering if maybe there’s a way your teen can get counseling and meet other teens. You want to know what the options are.
Hi, I’m Kristen,
I help teens who struggle with self-confidence and experience social anxiety, to become more comfortable with who they are and how they express themself. Together we have fun, play games, and practice social skills they can use in real life. With counseling, your teen can learn how to make friends, stand up for themself, and feel happier.
As a Therapeutic Game Master, I’m trained to incorporate the fun and learning of role playing games with the tools of therapy in Georgetown, TX.
In my six-week groups, your teen will have the chance to make new friends, practice their social skills in a safe, fun environment, and grow in their ability to be themself and communicate with others.
Group therapy in Georgetown, TX doesn’t have to feel boring and hard. It can feel fun and exciting and be a place to take safe risks, and meet other people.
