Read on to learn more about Lindsey, Justin, and other therapists and nurse practitioners in Georgetown, TX and how they help teens!

What kind of services/offerings do you provide?

Lindsey: Each therapist under the Three Oaks Counseling practice, basically runs their own private practice. There are in-person and virtual options, as well as a variety of specialities. Check out our website for more details and the opportunity to search for the right fit.

Justin: I treat all diagnoses with medication management primarily though I do more therapy than most of my medication management peers. I do some testing for ADHD and complex disorders by referral from clinicians I trust in the community.

How do your services/offerings help teens and parents of teens?

Lindsey: We have three therapists in Georgetown, TX that work with complex trauma in kids. I typically work with children ages 3-12 and teens 15+. We take almost every type of insurance including Medicaid, so we’re a great resource for individuals looking to use insurance benefits for therapy or medication services.

Justin: I provide medication management for most disorders and have treated kids and teens in emergency rooms, inpatient hospital programs, intensive outpatient programs and outpatient therapy and medication management.

What kind of teens and parent of teens do you love working with?

Lindsey: I am a play therapist and work with ages 3-12 and children in foster or adoptive families.

Justin: I like to work with all kinds but love to teach. Those who have lots of questions and want to know what is happening to them will find me as someone who likes to explain and help them understand and collaboratively choose the best treatment. I like to meet with kids one-on-one and am happy to meet with parents to help explain after. I like families who are interested in empowering their kids to take control of their mental health care and don't mind them being the focus so we can build them up.

During a teen or their parent’s first session with you, what can they expect to experience?

Lindsey: Prior to the first session, our practice with go through the insurance verification process, so a family knows up front what their out-of-pocket costs will be. When working with teens, we’ll set up a 30 minute consultation with parents to make sure they understand how services work and the ins and outs of confidentiality. After the consultation, the teen is then scheduled for a 60 minute intake session. Once a teen is through the intake process, they’re able to book online directly through the portal.

Justin: I will take a longer 90 min intake to get to know my patients, and I usually book hour sessions to make sure we balance meds and therapy/proper assessment.

What do you wish people knew about your business?

Lindsey: Our therapists and nurse practitioners work really well together. If your teen is taking medication, it’s great to have their therapist and medication management provider under the same roof for collaboration purposes!

Justin: I frequently speak to my profession organizations like Texas Nurse Practitioners and Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioners on subjects ranging from substance use disorders and substance induced mood disorder, bipolar, and ADHD.

What was your favorite thing about being a teenager?

Justin: I made a host of stupid decisions and learned so much from them. I learned you can survive fear, confusion, and your own arrogance. Oh and basketball and theater were awesome!
